Hi all.
I recently discovered that my old motherboard has support for I2C (for use with hardware sensors). Curious about my CPU temperature and fan speed, I installed lm_sensors from Portage. I then ran `sensors-detect`as root, scanning all busses and devices. Then I ran `sensors -s` as the script suggested. Now when I run `sensors` I see Quote: | via686a-isa-6000

CPU Temp: +31.1°C (high = +60°C, hyst = +55°C)
SBr Temp: +24.6°C (high = +65°C, hyst = +60°C) | That +2.5 V running at less than a tenth of a volt really scares me.
I have an Antec 300W power supply, and my hardware consists of the motherboard (with onboard sound, USB 1.1, and joystick support), an Athlon Thunderbird CPU (1.2GHz, 133x9), 256 MB PC 133 SDRAM (1 module), two hard disks, an older CD-ROM drive, a PCI USB 2.0 card, a PCI Linksys 10/100 NIC, a Radeon 9200 (running at 2x AGP) and a Ricoh PCMCIA cardbus through which I'm running a Prism2 wireless card.
The PSU seems fine, but just in case, would simply getting a better PSU fix this or is lm_sensors merely misconfigured and giving me incorrect values?
Also, is that P/S fan my power supply fan? If so perhaps it shows that my sensors are not confgured correctly, since I can see my PSU fan running.

lm_sensors gives some wicked results - I wouldnt worry about it.

It's been awhile, but iirc...
'lm _sensors' doesn't just display the data it reads off the chips,
'cause that data wouldn't make any sense. It converts them with a
certain amount of "factoring", that maybe based on published data
from the harware manufacturers involved or educated guesses.
Your system might_be/probably_is different from the system that
was used to derive the "factoring".
_Possibly_, you might be able to check this by letting your system
run for some period of time, with just the one full screen console
(runlevel 3) running, to get the system to stabilize. After that period of
time run 'sensors' and copy the data down.
Then reboot into the bios, and check the temps after some period of time.
If there's a big difference you could go into that lm_sensors config file
and make some adjustments, or.... you could google... maybe someone
else has already done the work.
