i finally loaded 2.4.26-r6 correctly and the went to istall x11-
Code: | # emerge xorg-x11
When the installation is finished, you might need to reinitialise some environment variables before you continue. Just run env-update followed by source /etc/profile and you're all set. This doesn't harm your system in any way.
Code Listing 2.2: Reinitialising the environment variables
# env-update
# source /etc/profile |
I only got:
"Resolving freedesktop.org... failed: Temporary failure in name resolution.
!!! Couldn't download X11R6.7.0-src3.tar.gz. Aborting"
any help for this novice appreciated ty in advance |

maybe your network setup is to blame. Can you ping www.google.com? _________________ "I'm just very selective about the reality I choose to accept." -- Calvin |

Yeah, it really looks like your not connecting to the server. Check your own network connection then try a different server. |
