I tried to swap data between two partitions (/ and /home). Then i found out, that file owners where changed somewhere. I also noticed, that permissions where different (i think) and i had some problems with udev (had to make console node). Then i decided to cancle everything and just changed fstab and boot record, because the old files were not deleted. Somwhere on the way i also managed to set permissions in root to 755. (I am so dumb :/). Anyways, now i can not su and bash reports it has no acces to /dev/null.

And now i wonder - what is the fastest way to set file permissions back to "normal". Not necesarily back to the way they were before, but just to set everything in working order and to prevent risk.

Thx for your answers.

I have some nasty experiences with killing permissions.
You should check the permissions in your /dev directory with the ones in a working machine.
/dev/null for example has rwxrwxrwx.

Thx. Now i see. Null definitely has the wrong permissions :)

If there is no faster way, here is what i was planing to do:

Download stage 2 and compare permissions.

Can't wait to have it done :>
