[solved] handbook stage3 install - problems emerging kernel

Hi,
I'm a new Gentoo convert ever since using GentooX on my XBOX.

Using 2005.0 Universal amd64 installer on my system following the 2005.0 AMD64 Handbook install instructions, everything was going great until I chrooted over to the Gentoo partition and tried to emerge the kernel. I got lots of errors, but they all ended with "Temporary failure in name resolution". I did the ping test earlier and pinged yahoo, google, and gentoo.org successfully, so I thought my net was working, but apparently not. After the chroot, I can now only ping addresses within my LAN (192.168.1.xxx), but can't ping anything on the internet. When I run ifconfig eth0, all the IPs and such are correct, and I have no firewalls or proxies or anything like that. All networking runs to a linksys BEFSR41 running the latest firmware connected to an Alcatel SpeedTouch Home DSL modem. The adapter in question is the integrated ethernet in a Gigabyte GA-K8VT800 motherboard.

Any ideas? I'd like to finish the install tonight, if possible.

did you copy /etc/resolv.conf over to /mnt/gentoo/etc/resolv.conf before you chrooted?
