|

On boot up on my HP Pavilion, just before the grub loader, I hear several repeating beeps (sounds as if it is not going to boot). Then, grub loader starts up and everything goes as normal.
This started happening after I temporarily compiled vanill-sources to get sun-j2sdk to emerge. Then I moved that bzImage to bzImage.vanilla and then moved bzImage.bk (with gentoo-sources) to bzImage.
Anyone know what I need to do? Thanks in advance. ![Very Happy :D](images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif) _________________ "Disco Stu doesn't advertise." |

I have Phoenix BIOS. I don't know what version, but I bought the computer in aug 2001, so it is probably a newer version. It produces approx. 60-65 beeps of the same tone (it was hard to count them).
Any ideas? I looked at that site, but I didn't really know what I was looking at. Thanks! ![Very Happy :D](images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif) _________________ "Disco Stu doesn't advertise." |

I have discovered that it beeps repetitively until I hit enter, then the grub splash.xpm.gz screen comes up. I recompiled the kernel, but no luck. It might be something with Phoenix BIOS. I don't know much about this, but I have had trouble with it (i.e., sometimes I have to hold in the power button for 30+ seconds for the computer to turn off). Thanks. ![Very Happy :D](images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif) _________________ "Disco Stu doesn't advertise." |
