Hiay All. Im wondering if anyone has managed to get Mplayer to compile and run properly? In the past, i have actually managed this and its run ok. At the moment, however, im having two problems:
The sound and the video arent being outputted to a sensible device. At the moment, its simply going to the null device. Specifing a device with -vo doesnt seem to help.
secondly, the codecs i need are in /usr/local/lib/codecs which is where they are supposed to be but mplayer is looking in the root directory for them instead. I'd heard you need to set this path in the ./configure script but im not sure.
Any thoughts please? I'll post some more here once the compile has finished again!

Ok, a real answer would be prefered! Not some half-baked reply. Of course i've tried MPlayer OSX, but i guess you didnt know that.
MPlayer OSX isnt good enough. Theres no support for Realplayer yet. I have managed to get MPlayer compiled and running in the past, however i've clearly missed a use flag somewhere. My current compilation includes:
USE="real oggvorbis encode avi" emerge mplayer
Just synced, and figured out theres a new release. Once i get past the usual libposproc problem i'll have a better picture. |
