I downloaded the menu-editor app off the web from http://www.realistanew.com/2005/03/18/gnome-menu-editor/. I understand it is what is used in ubuntu. I installed it manually (after emerging pyxdg). It runs OK but when I try to save a menu entry I get:
Code:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/bin/menu-editor", line 370, in saveEntry
self.menu_handler.saveEntry(entry, name, comment, command, icon, useterm, category, filename)
File "/usr/lib/menu-editor/menu_handler.py", line 139, in saveEntry
    if newentry.content['Desktop Entry'].has_key('Name[' + self.locale + ']'):
TypeError: cannot concatenate 'str' and 'NoneType' objects

Has anyone gotten this app to work?

Thanks

Hi,

I've got the newer version (renamed to smeg-0.5) to work fine. It requires patching to get it to work with python-2.3 though, and you also need to patch gnome-menus since there's a bug in it that prevents everything working right. I've got ebuilds for it and the updated gnome-menus, but unfortunately my webserver is dead at the moment. When I have everything working I'll post it for download.

Cheers,
James

Finally, pan is in my menu again. Thank you very much for creating the ebuild!
