Hi,

so my problem is there since yesterday. i just cant login in into gnome as a normal user (i made a new one, cant login too), cant start the console (bash) or any programm. i cant login in the non x terminal fine, but i cant start anythin which depends on a terminal in x. as root, evrythin is fine, so i think i have to change some permissions, but i dont know which.

i dont get any failure messages too, the screen just switches back to gdm after login. i can login into openbox, but there i cant start xterm too :(

could you please help me

thx,ciao

Just had the same problem.
You need to run etc-update, and update the udev configuration files. Then reboot and things should work. ;)

Run etc-update, at couple of the files have 'udev' in the filename or path. Update those. I can't remember which exactly, and etc-update doesn't keep a log AFAIK.

What you did was probably updating the udev package, that at least was what I did.
