OpenGL support for ATI 3D Rage

Forgive me if this has been asked before, but I had searched the forums and only found information for a Rage 128.

I have a ATI 3D Rage Pro 8MB PCI, but it doesn't seem to want to work with any OpenGL games or applications. From what I understand, emerging ati-drivers is for radeon cards, and x11-drm only work for cards higher than a Rage 128. Are they some specific drivers I need to get OpenGL working, or will emerging x11-drm using "VIDEO_CARDS='r128' work fine for my card? I'd really like to be able to play some 3D games on my box soon.
