Hi, all...
I'm worn out trying to make my on board i810 graphics work well. I'm wanting to buy a new AGP half height video card with good performance. I find lots of info on full size cards, but sparse info on the half height variety for my compact gentoo box.
I would love hear from a user who is happy with his/her half height video card!
Thanks... _________________ "Primum non nocere" ---Galen |

I have a half height GF4 440 MX in my second box and it runs just fine (it's passively cooled). They still sell those near my place and they have some FX5200 or even 6200 in the same format. You won't get a high end card, but if it's only for occasionally playing games it should be fine.
PS : I forgot to mention I use nvidia binary drivers, there is an open source nv drivers that works as well but it doesn't have 3d acceleration. _________________ Momo_CCCP |

Momo_CCCP...
You recommended Quote: | a half height GF4 440 MX | I'm not a game player, so it sounds like a good choice. How much memory??
Thanks _________________ "Primum non nocere" ---Galen |

It has 64 MB of RAM (DDR) and is actually a decent choice for low end gaming (enemy-territory and its mods and quake3 and its mods run fine in high quality (1024*768)).
Mine has TV-Out and I bought it for 39 euros.
ATI has similar models but their support under linux is nowhere near nvidia's one. _________________ Momo_CCCP |
