I've got two HDD's on my PowerMac G5 - both contain existing Mac OS (Journaled) partitions, but for some reason when I run 'cfdisk' or 'fdisk' they are represented as blank disks. (This is after booting off 2005.0 LiveCD)
I notice in my 'dmesg' output there was mention of RAID5, and for some reason a sg4,5,6 were all created - despite two disks. None of those work either.
How do I get to see my partitions? |

Thanks for that. It turns out I was (unintentionally) reading the x86 installation guide for the PPC - I could swear I clicked the PPC link... but oh well. I must be going dillusional.
So thanks for that - mac-fdisk works fine.
Just a follow-on question, if that's ok. Not entirely relevant but curious:
I notice that /dev/sdaX is not sequential according to the base index. And I gather that with the availability of the 'P' option (instead of 'p') in fdisk that this is normal on a Mac. Is there any particular reason why Mac partitions seem much more jumbled than that of a PC machine?
Also, I might add, I have 128mb of free space before my HFS partition even starts. Is this necessary? |
