Posted: Wed Feb 05, 2003 11:34 am Post subject: Display Corruption under X - ibook2 G3 800 12" |
|
|
I have a problem with my 12" ibook2 (2usb G3 800)
(Ill apologise right now for this long post!)
I added append="video=ofonly" to yaboot.conf
This fixed the inital display when booting.
Ive tried the ebuild here https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=28170
, and couldnt get it to work - I followed the instructions
So I ran Xeasyconf and got X running.....However I get problems with display corruption under X. (Lots of banding and "rolling" lines) Oh and CTRL-ALT-Backspace cause teh screen to show random patterns and flashes.
Kernel is 2.4.20-r1 on Xfree 4.3.2, or even 4.2.1 :p
Please Help, this is driving me nuts!!!
Heres my XF86config-4: (Again, sorry for the long post!)

You need to update your kernel.
rsync -avz rsync.penguinppc.org::linux-2.4-benh benh_kernel |

using video=ofonly is the problem, you have to use the native framebuffer drivers and not the open firmware |

IT WORKS!
Many thanks guys.
The combination of the new kernel and removing the video=ofonly from yaboot.conf has worked a treat.
Again, thanks
