|
|
Hi!
I just installed Gentoo 2005.0 and my boot partition is of ext2. Each time I boot the computer I am being asked if I want to do a file system check.
I also have to choose yes or no.
Is it possible to disable that function? |

You shouldn't, really - it is vitally important that /boot remains intact.

You're being asked or being forced? What's the message exactly?
If you don't shutdown your computer properly, next time you boot you'll be required to do a filesystem check. You don't want to disable that, unless you're happy with losing all data due to a corrupted filesystem.
From time to time, a filesystem check will be enforced (depending on number of days / number of mounts that passed since the last check). You can use tune2fs to change these numbers. Checking once every 100 days / 50-500 mounts (depending on how frequently you mount/umount/reboot your machine) does not hurt. |

I always shutdown my computer properly (by using commands like "halt", "shutdown" etc).
The problem is that I am always being asked for a file system check.
The message is like:
"Do you want to do a file system check? Type 'Yes' or 'No'".
I can accept that question after 150 boots, but not every time.
Please help! |
