After I login using gdm welcome screen as the user the screen freezes. If I login as the root there is no problem.
I could not find any errors in /var/log/Xorg.0.log fille. In FC3 there is a file in /tmp directory called xses_user which logs
gnome errors occurring in the current X Windows session. Does such a file exist in gentoo? Or is other way to debug
this problem.
Michal
I ran etc-update and selected 12 to replace /etc/udev/rules.d/50-udev.rules
with /etc/udev/rules.d/._cfg0000_50-udev.conf and this took care of this
problem namely denied access to /dev/null I found this from the .xsession_errors
file in home directory.
