i was changing theme for Qt and Kde (i do not have Kde nor Gnome desktop, only some tools).
i used kconfig for changing Kde-3.3 theme, and qtconfig for changing Qt theme, and voila'...
here's the result:

deleting ~/.qt* ~/.kde* doesn't help at all.
what else i can do?
thanks very much

Well the worst case scenario option would just to be to backup all of your /home files and if you have a slow connnection your portage and then just start your system from scratch (I would remove the invisible .qt and .kde just in case) of course thats assuming you have no other choice.

Is there a kcontrol package for gentoo? I'm not at a gentoo machine right now, but if you can install kcontrol, that will let you configure both the theme and language and everything else... worth a shot. _________________ All your code are belong to us. |

For something like this, there is no reason to go that far at all.
red_over_blue: That comes with the KDE ebuild.
[xaero]: Use red_over_blue's suggestion. |

Pwnz3r, i set language = US English, and country = United States of America, but qt applications are still in that unreadable font (is it korean or what?)
i re-emerged qt, but that font is still there!
the strange f**in thing is that i removed .qt* and .kde* files in both my home and root's home, and do an in both homes to show recently modified files... NOPE! i removed them all, but qt language still doesn't change...

Any chance that you've accidentally changed an environment
variable or locale that qt/kde uses??? |

nope
Code: |
LANG=it_IT
LANGUAGE=it_IT
LC_ALL=it_IT
LC_CTYPE=it_IT
LC_LOCAL=it_IT
LC_MESSAGES=it_IT
|
i can unset these variables, or set them to en_US, but nothing changes in qt-applications.
i also did:
Code: |
strace qtconfig 2>&1 | tee qtc.log
|
and can't figure out where is the problem... maybe with fonts?
could you post your qtrc files? |

i solved.
the "bad" settings were at:
/usr/qt/3/etc/settings
i simply did:
Code: |
rm -rf /usr/qt/3/etc/settings
emerge qt
|
and got qt fixed! |
