How do I know Gentoo is for...

Hi.
Thank you all in advance for your help.

I need to run CVS and access it via SSH on a laptop over broadband connections.

The specs of the machine are as follows:
533MHz processor
128MB ram
10GB hdd
DVD-ROM optical drive
PCMCIA network card
---

those two servers will be the only ones I will need to run on them...
of course I will need to keep it secure as well with a firewall.

Doyou think Gentoo is the right thing for this scenario?

You're asking if Gentoo is good for running a CVS server in a Gentoo forum... so of course the answer will be yes. In reality, any Linux distro will do, so it's up to you to decide what your favorite distro is and use it.

As far as security goes, you can firewall all your ports and access CVS via SSH using key authentication. You can tighten SSH even more by turning off password authentication and only allow login via DSA/RSA keys.
