Hi,

I have a nasty problem with a usb printer. It is a Samsung ML-1410 laser printer that is shared via cups. I can use this printer but sometimes cups shows me
Code:
Unable to open USB device "usb://Samsung/ML-1510_700": No such device

Also the gentoo box tells me
Code:
usb 1-2: device not accepting address 2, error -71
usb 1-2: new full speed USB device using address 3
usb 1-2: device not accepting address 3, error -71

The following modules are loaded:
Code:

parport_pc             19840  1
lp                      7784  0
parport                20480  2 parport_pc,lp
rtc                     9400  0
uhci_hcd               28112  0
usbcore                99492  3 uhci_hcd
sg                     22812  0
sd_mod                 11792  0
scsi_mod               63804  2 sg,sd_mod
ide_cd                 36256  0
cdrom                  35932  1 ide_cd

uname:
Code:

Linux albus 2.6.9-gentoo-r6 #1 Mon Nov 29 04:32:37 CET 2004 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) Processor AuthenticAMD GNU/Linux

Anyone knows what to do?

Thanks much.

Stefan

I updated to the newest kernel 2.6.11-r9. When modprobing "uhci_hcd" I get:
Code:

uhci_hcd 0000:00:07.3: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82xxxxx UHCI USB 1.1 Controller (#2)
uhci_hcd 0000:00:07.3: irq 10, io base 0xdc00
uhci_hcd 0000:00:07.3: new USB bus registered, assigned bus number 2
hub 2-0:1.0: USB hub found
hub 2-0:1.0: 2 ports detected
usb 1-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 2
usb 1-1: device descriptor read/64, error -71
usb 1-1: device descriptor read/64, error -71
usb 1-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 3
usb 1-1: device descriptor read/64, error -71
usb 1-1: device descriptor read/64, error -71

Linux sucks, really. It disappoints me every now and then (as desktop and server OS) but I am stuck with it because I don't have the time try some other alternatives (like Freebsd).
