I follow the installation instruction and i rebooted the system after the completion of grub configuration.

After reboot compare a grub prompt:

grub>

I have created a boot partition on /dev/sda1 with ext3 ,
and a / partition on /dev/sda3 with the same filesystem.

What I have missed?

thanks.

Do you mean that when you boot you just get the grub prompt and no menu? If so, you should probably look for the problem in your grub.conf file.

yes, the only thing that i obtain is the grub prompt with no menu.

I checked the grub.conf file via the boot cd and it seems OK.

What can I do?

Can you boot the system from the grub prompt by doing something like the following:
Code:

grub> root (hd0,0)
Filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type 0x83

grub> kernel /boot/bzImage root=/dev/sda3
  [Linux-bzImage, setup=0xa00, size=0xe5520]

grub> boot

You might have to make a symlink to menu.lst.

Code:
ln -s /boot/grub/grub.conf /boot/grub/menu.lst
