I'm setting up an apache web server. I'd like to serve files from users home directories, so apache needs to be able to see the files. However, I don't want other users to be able to enter each others home directory, only their own.

How can I do this? I presume I need to mess with group or everyone permissions but I don't really understand how.

ta,

Tim.

Sorted. I misunderstood the last block.

file permissions are user/group/other, not user/group/all.

I can therefore give other permission to rx, and as all my users are in the group associated with the file, they're not allowed in.
