I've got me a lovely transparent desktop with e16. But damn aMSN has a white background, it looks poo!
Few questions...
Can i enable transparency via source code editing/e16/aMSN settings?
and if not...
What alternative programs are there that run MSN just as well?

Mercury actually has more features than amsn (including videoconf (not webcam, but videoconferencing) mode, winks, etc.) (and faster realeases). I don't think you can enable a transparent contact list, but you can at least select a background image or color. I believe I read on amsn's TODO list that you'll be able to skin the bg in .95.
My complaints with Mercury:
It's Java (if you use it, get the latest beta which seems to use a lot less resourses)
There's No ebuild
The download links are torrents (usually not bad though)
