i am writing this from the links2 command. i am (was) in the progress of installing gentoo.
after doing:
# emerge --emptytree system
it started installing for like 30min untill i stoped with the following error message:

could someone please help me? i so want to install gentoo.. i really dont want anything els.. why is this happening to me???
im installing from a not minimun but the other one, the 700Mb big install cd-rom.
specs:
fujitsu siemens C-6175 Lifebook Notebook, celeron 500Mhz, 5Gb HD, 128Mb SDRAM.
is it the cd? not burned well? or is it the portage that it downloaded that had a problem? or was the connection lost for a bit?
ok, what to do?
format and start all over again? is there and other way? if not, what should i change when installing again? choose different mirror? different update portage? reburn installcd? please... help... im... dyi. |

please post the output of "emerge --info". Make sure the MD5 sums of your downloaded files are correct! |

which command did i type a 0 for an O? i dont remember specific.
ive run the emerge --emptytree system command again. it started installing all over again. its been at it for 12 hours now. is that normal? isnt it looping? do i need to reformat and start over? |

holi cow. just as i checked on it it was done.. after 12 HOURS!!! damn! hah, anyways i'll try going on with the install. will let u guys know if its done.. peace |
