I've got a Dell Latitude C600. It has an ESS Audiodrive/Maestro3, and the audio is unbareable. Audio CD's, OGG's, MP3's... they all sound like crap.
I know there's hardware limitations... but it really is horrid. I cant stand listening to it anymore. Can somebody help? This is with the latest 2.6.11-r9 kernel. Anyone know if there are quality fixes in 2.6.12? _________________ I was a Gangster for Capitalism, by Major General Smedley Butler.

that chipset has been around for a while. so there's likely no patches for it in 2.6.12
however, make sure your mixer levels are down far enough that the sound doesn't crack.
also, are you using headphones? on my ALS4000, the output line level is too strong for headphones and it's crap unless i hook it through a pair of (cheap) speakers first. |
