this is the kind of situation that makes me hate gnome... i emerged gnome, started it but it complains because of the lack of a gnome-compliant windows-manager... hence i emerged metacity but I could't find one piece of useful information as how to get gnome to use metacity rather than that horrible twm thing... any clue? thanks in advance for your help |

Edit /etc/rc.conf and remove the # from the line #XSESSION="Gnome" _________________ Please add [solved] to the initial post's subject line if you feel your problem is resolved. Help answer the unanswered

I'm not using gnome right now so I'm guessing on some of the applications names etc ..
* open gnome-session-manager
* click your wm and select trash in the dropdown box
* killall yourwm && yournewwm&
* go back to your session manager and select the right option (can't reclall) from the drop down box
* restart gnome and it should use yournewwm _________________ Turns out the pony only had one trick. |
