unable to startx

a week or so ago i emerged xorg 6.8.2 r1and it was working fine, but the power went out last night and when i rebooted the machine it gives me an error when i try to startx
my nvidia splash screen comes up, than it kills and sends me back to bash

here is what it says

start-stop-daemon: stat /usr/X11R6/bin/xfs: No such file or directory

any ideas?

Have you tried re-emerging?

yeah, i remerged xorg-x11-2.6.8.2-r1
got the same error

Maybe you need to re-emerge nvidia-glx (and nvidia-kernel) again!!!

i'll try it, but i really don't think it is an nvidia problem.... , glx loads fine, and it does not give me any glx errors.
