Allora, tentando il mio primo emerge -uD world, ho ricevuto poco meno di un insulto da portage, il quale mi urlò in rosso che il mio profilo era obsoleto e non più supportato e che dovevo aggiornare il portage e anche il symlink ad /etc/make.profile con tanto di istruzioni per fare il tutto.
Feci il tutto e ve faccio vede come stanno le cose:
#ls -lh /etc/make.profile
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 49 May 24 00:33 2005.0 -> ../usr/portage/profiles/default-linux/x86/2005.0/
#emerge info

Da cui si evince che per portage sono ancora alla 2004.3!!
Ebbene, visto che penso sia tutta una baggianata mi dite dove sbaglio e come posso aggiornare il world in bellezza?

non capisco a quale riga alludi per trovare la risposta.
Per EmiBrown: confesso! Ho installato gentoo per la prima volta almeno due anni fa e non ho mai aggiornato il world poichè per un computeruzzo domestico che va da dio non ho mai sentito quest'esigenza, al massimo syncavo per emergere programmi più aggiornati ma mai emerso world!!! In più sai com'è a volte capita di reinstallare e allora aggiorni tutto daccapo evvia!!!
Cmq grazie per i suggerimenti cercherò meglio nel forum prima di ripostare.

effettivamente se dai emerge info non te lo dice... però se provi emerge -pvDu world di sicuro (o anche se provi ad emergere qualsiasi cosa)
Il fatto è che sono cambiati i profili quindi il tuo link /etc/make.profile punta ad una directory obsoleta...
prova questo

è proprio quello che ho fatto eppoi da ls -l /etc/make.profile che ho postato vedi che va bene.

Non avevo visto... il tuo problema è che hai creato un link "2005.0" dentro la directory "/etc/make.profile"...
Invece è /etc/make.profile che deve essere un link per il profilo...
dai il comando che ti ho detto e aggiungi "-rf" come opzioni a rm...

allora c'è un problema, o meglio ce n'era uno che ho risolto ma ora ce n'è uno più grande ancora!
Non riuscivo a cancellare il vecchio make.profile. Dopo una dura lotta l'ho cancellato! Poi ho detto "è fatta, devo solo ricreare il softlink al giusto profilo evvia!". Dunque:
#ln -s /usr/portage/profiles/default-linux/x86/2005.0/ /etc/make.profile/
ln: creating symbolic link `/etc/make.profile/' to `/usr/portage/profiles/default-linux/x86/2005.0/': No such file or directory
#
e giuro solennemente che la dir in questione esiste!
Dunque?
