..from Gentoo is common menus across window managers ala Mandrake. What are others doing to remedy this? |

absolutely nothing, as it should be.
one of the NICE things about gentoo is they give you the programs completely unaltered from the source. This means less "fluff" and packages that are exactly what the original coders had in mind.

So are you saying you dont using the menus from you windowmanager at all? Dont quite know what you mean by "modified". What I'm referring to is when I customize an application menu in say fluxbox under Mandrake, it got implemented when I use WindowMaker, ICEWM, E, etc... |

that is a certain thing that mandrake did to their install, however it was set up, there is most likely a way to manually add that package or whatever to any distro. |
