Allora, il problema e' semplice (suppongo...)
Qualche giorno fa ho installato xfce4 versione 4.2.2, dichiarata masked (NON M~). Mettendo tutti i files richiesti in /etc/portage/package.keywords ho emerso il tutto.
Da ieri pero', facendo un emerge world mi vuole downgradare tutto alla versione 4.2.0....PERCHE'??? In cosa sbaglio????

Potrei avere una spiegazione... di cui però non sono sicuro...
Con il passaggio da xfce4.0 a xfce4.2 (è cambiato però anche il nome del meta-ebuild quindi non sono sicuro sia lo stesso caso), se uno aveva installato anche altra roba (non compresa nel meta-ebuild) che si appoggiava alla versione precedente (4.0) allora succedeva la seguente cosa:
1) emerge -uD world installava la versione nuova
2) un successivo emerge -uD world voleva riemergere la vecchia
il loop andava avanti in modo infinito
Una soluzione è togliere tutti i pacchetti di xfce e installarli di nuovo dopo l'aggiornamento
Un'altra soluzione è procedere a mano con emerge -pvDut world (per vedere il tree) e unclepine....
Del resto è così che ho fatto mentre upgradavo xfce sul tuo pc qui da me nick....
Comunque dalla 4.0 alla 4.2 era cambiato proprio l'ebuild... quindi non so se anche questo è il tuo caso

Allora, ho provato a fare una ricerca di tutti i pacchetti installati di xfce...c'era qualcosa di vecchio relativo a XFce4.0 , ma anche eliminandolo portage continua ad ignorare il file package.keywords (almeno per quanto riguarda xfce...)
Ora magari provo a togliere COMPLETAMENTE XFCE e vediamo cosa succede....
Sono comunque accettati altri consigli/suggerimenti

usa quickpkg e creati i binari
potrebbero tornarti utili

OK RISOLTO!!!!
Non so bene cosa gli desse veramente fastidio, ma comunque disinstallando tutto, ed emergendo nuovamente non mi da (per ora) piu' problemi di downgrade.....
