People can't see files on ftp, but they can upload, how?

Hi all,

I have made an program which uploads a file to my server, but I people can see the files that are uploaded, can't I remove that? And can I do so they only can upload .xml files?

I am using Pure-ftpd with mysql.

It would seem to me that it would be a permission issue. Check the permissions and ownership of the files.
