Hello,
Just installed gentoo-AMD64 on AMD64 4000+ and everything works with no problem, BUT when I start ypbindm, segfaults start to dance on when I try to emerge anything. In the logs I see
tar[7910]: segfault at 0000000000000000 rip 00002aaaaae40a00 rsp 00007fffffffd828 error 4
To workaround this I added the users' entries(passwd and shadow) from NIS server to the AMD64.
Is there any way to make ypbind work and NOT cause these segfaults?
thanks. |

I don't rememeber which version of glibc, but one of those stable glibc was causing this problem. Upgrading to one version up has solved this problem for me on 11 amd64 machines here. Since we stopped using NIS, we are back to stable now. |

Thanks for the reply.
Do you say that
Code: |
ACCEPT_KEYWORD="~amd64" emerge -vD glibc
|
may solve the problem? |

You may want to install a specific version instead of latest unstable
Code: |
echo =sys-libs/glibc-2.3.4.20050125* ~amd64 >> /etc/portage/package.keywords
emerge -u glibc
|
if that version doesn't work for you, you may also try downgrading
Code: |
emerge =glibc-2.3.4.20040808-r1
|
as I said I don't remember which version of glibc did fix the problem, you may want to keep trying with available ones in the portage tree. |

sys-libs/glibc-2.3.4.20050125-r1
works for me. I don't feel like trying 2.3.5 yet. |
