You are not supposed to do an emerge sync with a stage3 install. _________________ Please add [solved] to the initial post's subject line if you feel your problem is resolved. Help answer the unanswered

Erm, maybe I'm missing something but I don't see how an emerge sync would hurt anything. If I do a stage 3 I also do an emerge sync and an emerge -u system before I boot it the first time. Regardless of whether you are supposed to do it or not, I can vouch for the fact that it does work.

I had a simular problem with another prog. See this bug # 92203. ALso if youre doing a stage3 install AND NOT a pkg or GRP install then yes you have to sync or grab a recent portage snapshot. _________________ An A-Z Index of the Linux BASH command line |

Using a stage3 install doesn't mean you are using the cds packages necissarily. Nothing wrong with doing a sync. I haven't experienced this bug though. _________________ Posting for dummies |

Umm... Why would portage calculate dependancies for an emerge --sync ??
Was there another command between the emerge --sync and the error? |

You didn't do an emerge rsync without a snapshot present did you? |
