Has anyone actually managed to get this to work?

If I try to use Steam without it, I get the message telling me I need it, then Steam crashes out.

If I install it, Steam will work, until it reaches a point where it actually needs it, such as the Steam News dialogue, or a MOTD in CS.

If you've managed to get it working, then could you post what you did to get it going?

emerge teh trasgaming-mozcontrol (thid only installs the top-level stuff)
Then as your user execute

$tg-mozctl-install

to install for your user

CSS and HL2 works fine here btw

Isn't that for Cedega, not Wine?

I'm trying to get HL/CS working in Wine, not HL2/CSS working Cedega.

YEs that is for Cedega.
It wont work atm then with WINE. You might want to try installing IE first then CSS. That might give you ActiveX control, or it might not, worth a shot.

Keep me informed, if this works!!! then I will be dropping Cedega

I've tried many times to install IE, but it always fails somewhere.

I found a solution that claimed to work if I replaced my wine config with the one they provided...but it still didn't work.
