HI!
I've got a problem running my Yamaha DS-XG YMF754 on Gentoo. Well actually that means, I had it already running but it stopped and I don't know why
Ok step by step: the soundcard worked properly until today. I booted Linux and then I had the problem, that every file in XMMS gets only played 3 seconds and the it always stopps. Opening a mp3-stream leads to something like an infinite loop - at least it leads to a 100%-load. Xine + mplayer (video) for example work - with sound! So I had a closer look to the volume control of gnome, which showed another device added: "SigmaTel STAC9708/11 OSS MIXER". Maybe that intereferes in any way with my soundcard.
As already mentioned: I don't know exactly, what's the problem, as I didn't change anything (ok at least I didn't have this intention). All I did meanwhile is emerging some packages (k3b and biological stuff). And I had a closer look at "Multimedia Systems Selector". (ALSA is activated there, but alsasink doesn't work).
Any hints? Hope my description is useful....
