Hi everyone!
I want to have a plain xdm login manager, can anyone tell me how to get it since it seems not to be included with xorg-x11?
thanx |

Should be included have you done the following?
1. Edited rc.conf (located in etc) and put (located near the bottom):
Code: | DISPLAYMANAGER="xdm" |
2. Add xdm to the default runlevel
Code: | rc-update -a xdm default |
From memory that is all you have to do.
Good Luck
**You might be interested in this page too done by Pwnz3r, it shows you how to customise XDM so it looks really nice so you don't have to bother with any other login manager (specially useful if you don't run Gnome or KDE). Thanx very much for your post
But unfortunatly /etc/init.d/xdm does not exist. Neither a xdm binary exists. That's why I'm wondering... |

In that case, you have a problem. Emerge xorg-x11 again immediately, and run etc-update when it's done. |

Well I assumed that something is not quite as it should be But I wonder if reemerging X
without any changes really helps, since I believe it does the compiling right
But I'll try it though...
Any other ideas? Perhaps there's something wrong within my USE Flags?

I believe I found a possible cause for the problems..
I have the "minimal" USE Flag set. I'll try recompiling X without it. |
