|

The title principally says it all: When I have my laptop plugged in, the screen is quite dark, but when I plug off (and let it run with battery), the screen becomes brighter. I want the reverse behavior!
Do you know how I can change this behavior? I havn't specially configured anything for power managment, I have just added acpid to my default bootlevel. I've seen the guide at www.gentoo.org about power managment, but it seems so complicated - I didn't bother with it because everything else already works! |

First off, I would recommend checking your bios settings.
I was using a laptop before that stored two seperate states for screen brightness, one for when connected to the mains, the other when running from battery. Reducing the brightness when plugged in then unplugging it would cause it to switch to the possibly brighter battery state. _________________ "You have to invite me in" |

My laptop remembers the last screen brightness values for each power setting. So changing it to dark while it is on battery will 'cause it to always go back to dark when switched to battery.
Yours may be the same. _________________ --

Isn't that what I just said? | For some reason when I had read your post, I thought you meant it was configureable from in the BIOS. Now that I'm using my brain after being humbled, yes, yes that is what you just said. _________________ --
