1. How to know the video-card's memory ? (I've got a laptop, toshiba satellite 2060 )
2. How to know the chipset and ide-controller of MB ? (lspci says this
Code: |
00:00.0 Host bridge: Toshiba America Info Systems CPU to PCI and PCI to ISA bridge (rev 01)
00:08.0 VGA compatible controller: S3 Inc. ViRGE/MX (rev 06)
00:09.0 Ethernet controller: Digital Equipment Corporation DECchip 21142/43 (rev 41)
00:0b.0 USB Controller: NEC Corporation USB (rev 02)
00:0c.0 Multimedia audio controller: ESS Technology ES1978 Maestro 2E (rev 10)
00:10.0 IDE interface: Toshiba America Info Systems Extended IDE Controller (rev 34)
00:13.0 CardBus bridge: Toshiba America Info Systems ToPIC97 (rev 07)
00:13.1 CardBus bridge: Toshiba America Info Systems ToPIC97 (rev 07)

but i didn't find such ide-interface in the kernel-configuration, and i can't compel my hdd to work in the dma-mode
Code: |
#hdparm -d 1 /dev/hda
/dev/hda:
setting using_dma to 1 (on)
HDIO_SET_DMA failed: Operation not permitted
using_dma = o (off)
|
What i have to include in the kernel configuration to do it work normally?
Thanks to all. / sorry for such english ( |

It should work with generic drivers... since it looks like we have the same hardware I've put my config (gzipped) online at http://spore.ath.cx/~dan/2065.config.gz so you can get the config there. You may want to look it over, I have wireless extensions and tun/tap support built in among other stuff that may not be necessary, but it's working very well for me. spore.ath.cx/~dan/2065.config.gz

You shouldn't need to specify it, the machine should pick it up automatically. If i'm wrong about this , please let me know. I'd very much like to improve the performance of that graphics card ; ) _________________ Configuring a Firewall? Try my iptables configuration
