Hello all

i've got a problem with kde 3.1: when i started kde the last time, i've had a power failure, just when kde was coming up. since then, my desktop is empty, there i just a terminal window and no more! no taskbar, no icons, just nothing.
btw: i was logged in as root

is there anything i can do except emerging the whole thing again?

I'd try removing kde configuration files in your home. Kde should recreate them.

No warranty, but better than remergin everything...

What you mean "empty"? Can you provide a screenshot?

can't provide screenshots, im sorry. but what i mean is: localhost home # ls return nothing.

there's a strange thing: if i type startkde in the terminal, then kde comes up as normal. so it seems that after the login in kde, the startkde commando isn't executed automatically

Check hidden files, ls doesn't show them.
Code:
# cd ~
# ls -a
