emerso samba,
creo utente iacopo e utente root
con qualsiasi configurazione io provi di smb.conf, da windows mi dice sempre che non posso entrare perchè non ho i permessi necessari anche se metto public=yes... insomma come se posso entrare in samba, e infattimi visualizza le catelle di share, e poi però non riesco ad entrare nelle singole cartelle perchè non ho i fantomatici permessi.

Io ho queste direttive in smb.conf ma non ho badato x nulla alla sicurezza, mi bastava avere a disposizione sul portatile win gli mp3 che ho su linux, cmq:

prova con calma a postare qui una parte siginificativa dei tuoi log (/var/log/messages e /var/log/samba/*) Dà quei files puoi capire in maniera inequivocabile cosa sta accadendo nel tuo PC. Ti consiglio di postare però solo le parti salienti quindi identifica un lasso di tempo nel quale hai fatto le tue prove e posta i log relativi a quel periodo, altrimenti rischiamo di trovarci a leggere la divina commedia.

hda4 sarebbe una partizione vfat del disco.. |

Io avevo il tuo stesso problema... ora monto gli hard disk (quelli fat e ntfs ) con gid=disk ed umask=002... Così mi funziona e non mi ha mai dato problemi... _________________ C. |

è vero funziona, ma non capisco perchè e non capisco il fatto che nel manuale di mount nelle opzioni di vfat non ci sono ne gid ne umask. |

penso usermod -G tutti_i_gruppi_a_cui_appartiene_l'utente, disk utente
oppure modifica /etc/group (fai prima così)
disk::(numero gid):root,utente _________________ C. |
