Well - I can now get my DVD's to play. However - i have some serious sound issues.
First off, I am using MPlayer to play the DVD's. I tried Ogle, but it always crashes right before the dvd starts to play. Trying to emerge xine-ui now to try that.
Anyways, with mplayer. If i launch it from the console - starts up fine and can view the video - but no sound.
If I start it up with gmplayer (gui) the movie starts and I get sound, but the sound is of some extra commentary on the CD and now the sound that should go with the movie. (the commentary is an extra on the CD).
I should note that I am using the OSS sound syste...had issues with Alsa.
Anyone have any thoughts? |

You're probably just getting the wrong sound channel from mplayer. I've had this problem with xine once or twice - basically, it defaults to the first bonuis audio track, rather than the main dialog track. You should be able to change the audio channel from the mplayer gui or command line. |
