I am trying to install autofs on my gentoo.
I followed the instructions given here:
http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Auto_mount_filesystems_(AUTOFS)
and here:
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=277721&highlight=autofs

I followed everything up to the the reboot.
After reboot I tried to start autofs but got the following error:

# /etc/init.d/autofs start
* Starting automounter...
* No autofs support available

automounter has been added to the kernel exactly as in the steps.
I am using 2.6.11-r9 version of the kernel.

any thoughts?

thanks.

so you're ABSOLUTELY certain that "CONFIG_AUTOFS4_FS=y" is set in your kernel .config, and you properly recompiled and installed your kernel, configured grub, and re-booted?
