Has anyone had any difficulties getting Meanwhile to work with Kopete. On my computer it appears in the list as an available IM protocol, but as soon as I set up the account (with the correct server settings) it fails to connect with no error messages. |

My luck is even worse, if i do anything with kopete & meanwhile, kopete crashes... hard! I'm going to try and rebuild that part of kde that kopete sits in to see if that helps. |

Let me know how that goes. I've tried rebuilding KDE after getting the lastest version of Meanwhile. Nothing seems to work for me. |

It has now become a bit tricky, but meanwhile is usable with kopete.
First, you need to emerge an older meanwhile library:
Code: | emerge -av =meanwhile-0.3-r3 |
In the latest kdenetwork ebuilds, you will need to re-enable meanwhile. This involves commenting out the meanwhile patch line. I would suggest you copy the kdenetwork directory into /usr/local/portage to make this change. Do not ask me how to do this, there are plenty of articles on the forum for setting up the portage overlay.
Comment this line as follows:
Code: | # No meanwhile support in kopete. See bug 96778.
# PATCHES="$PATCHES $FILESDIR/disable-meanwhile.diff" |
Now you will need to create the digest:
Code: | lptp-tcarpenter kdenetwork # ebuild kdenetwork-3.4.1-r1.ebuild digest
>>> Generating digest file...
<<< kdenetwork-3.4.1.tar.bz2
<<< post-3.4.1-kdenetwork-libgadu.patch
>>> Generating manifest file...
<<< ChangeLog
<<< metadata.xml
<<< kdenetwork-3.2.3-r1.ebuild
<<< kdenetwork-3.2.3.ebuild
<<< kdenetwork-3.3.2.ebuild
<<< kdenetwork-3.4.0-r2.ebuild
<<< kdenetwork-3.3.2-r1.ebuild
<<< kdenetwork-3.4.1.ebuild
<<< kdenetwork-3.4.0-r1.ebuild
<<< kdenetwork-3.4.1-r1.ebuild
<<< files/digest-kdenetwork-3.2.3
<<< files/lisa.conf
<<< files/lisa
<<< files/digest-kdenetwork-3.2.3-r1
<<< files/digest-kdenetwork-3.3.2
<<< files/digest-kdenetwork-3.4.0-r2
<<< files/digest-kdenetwork-3.4.1
<<< files/reslisa.conf
<<< files/reslisa
<<< files/kdenetwork-3.4.0-kopete-logout.patch
<<< files/yahoo-fix-connect-062404.patch
<<< files/digest-kdenetwork-3.4.0-r1
<<< files/kdenetwork-3.4.0-kopete-tabbed-windows.patch
<<< files/kdenetwork-3.4.0-kopete-spaces.patch
<<< files/digest-kdenetwork-3.3.2-r1
<<< files/kdenetwork-3.3.2-kopete-msn.patch
<<< files/kdenetwork-3.3.2-kwifimanager-configlocation.patch
<<< files/disable-meanwhile.diff
<<< files/wireless-extensions-api.diff
<<< files/digest-kdenetwork-3.4.1-r1
>>> Computed message digests. |
Now you can compile kdenetwork.
Code: | emerge -av kdenetwork |
When this is done, you should have a working meanwhile plugin. I will leave the use of the meanwhile plugin as an exercise for the reader.
If you use the kopete ebuild directly and not kdenetwork, then the instructions should be similar. |
