Hi,
When attempting to access cups configuration page http://localhost:631/ I have always an error message indicating that "The connection was refused when attemptind to contact localhost:631"
I am also not able to start cupsd I have this error message :
bash-2.05b# /etc/init.d/cupsd start
* Starting cupsd...
cupsd: Child exited with status 98!
The cups error log file indicates the following error :
E [02/Jun/2005:18:29:02 +0000] StartListening: Unable to bind socket for address 00000000:443 - Address already in use.
Can anybody help me and tell what's the problem and how to solve it?
Thanks. |

First, if you cannot start cupsd there will be nobody listening on port 631.
The cupsd log says that it cannot connect to port 443, which is actually the https port. I assume you have a webserver running on that box and it uses ssl. Check your cupsd configuration file /etc/cups/cupsd.conf for the configured port and correct it to 631. _________________ -- erol |

You are right. Thanks.
I changed the port number as desperate attempt to start cups. In fact even with 631 port it didn't work.
After your post I changed it back to 631 et it works now. Every thing is beautiful. I don't understand the original problem.
Thanks again.
