I'm getting the message in the subject line a lot (during boot or during emerges).
Is this something I should worry about?

You have most likely added one of the net.* services to more than one runlevel.
Both net.lo and net.eth0 should only appear once. _________________ >>> emerge (3 of 7) mcse/70-293 to /

Nope, net.lo is in the boot runlevel, net.eth1 is in the default runlevel.

I don't have the machine fully up yet (no browser), so typing the everything 'emerge info' spits out is prohibitve.
Here's what uname -a gives me:
Linux hannes 2.6.8-gentoo-r4 #1 Mon May 30 11:44:28 PDT 2005 x86_64 AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3200+ AuthenticAMD GNU/Linux
