Hey all. I have a little problem. Xorg refuses to run at 1280x1024. It runs fine at 1280x960 and 1024x768 but when attempting to run at 1280x1024 my monitor simply goes black as if it was turned off.
This monitor *does* do 1280x1024 quite happily in Windows but not in Linux !?

In my experience, this is usually a driver-related issue. Have you looked in /var/log/Xorg.0.log to see if it explains why your requested resolution is having trouble? Your xorg.conf looks very different than mine. Why do you have four devices defined? Do you have 4 different graphics cards in your system? And from what I can see, you only have 1024x768 interlaced defined for your monitor. Using the following Xorg.conf the monitor complains of no signal and shuts off. The messy XOrg conf I posted above is the sample one I edited for my needs. nvidia drivers and Xorg have been reemerged.

look at your /var/log/Xorg0.log, the problem should be there, but anyway, if you set DefaultDepth 24, why you set resolutions at Depth 16?

Why would you expect 1280x960 to work? I don't see that defined anywhere in your config. The VertRefresh rate seems extremely low. Note mine is 50-130, and my monitors are nothing special. Also, I notice your Display sections use Viewport, while mine use Virtual. I'm no expert in these things, but my configuration definitely works. Maybe try using the Display definition similar to what I provided.
