Fashong,
On the windows box, you need to share the drive/folder where the the files are and on linux you need to install samba, so you can connect to the shared folder. That makes Windows shares work with Linux.
If this is a one time only, or comparatively rare event, you can run sshd on linux and use PuTTY and friends on Windows to transfer the files. Look at Secure Copy on the PUTTY site http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/
Its a lot easier than setting up samba. _________________ Regards,

i have a similar question -- only i have samba -- how can i access windows shares? -- i got the whole graphical config thing in kde -- i'm just not sure how to actually browse the windows machine
note: my windows machine easily recognises my samba -- so going linux to windows works flawlessly
