Epson Printers

I have recently been shopping around for an old epson printer to work on my gentoo machine. Looking around I stumbled upon this website.

I was wondering if the drivers on this website supply satisfactory results using recent models of Epson Printers. I would greatly appreciate it if everyone would share their experience and results using what is provided on this site. I'm basically just wondering if these drivers would let me use a recent Epson printer with great results. Any comments are appreciated. Thanks.

Yes I have, and Linuxprinting.org as well. I know I can get an old Epson printer to run on Gentoo. But this site says you can have a recent model printer work very well. I was wondering if anyone has compiled the drivers and their experience with them.

I couldn't get the drivers from that site to compile (I don't recall what the error message was). If you look at the forums on the Epson-Kowa site, you'll see that a lot of people have the same problem.

Rather than try to figure out what was going wrong with the Epson-kowa drivers, I just emerged the beta version of Gimp-print 5.0, which has drivers for several recent Epson printers.

^ How is printing using Gimp-Print 5? I was thinking about getting a 5200, which would work, but now after reviewing the release notes, a CX6600 sounds pretty nice. How are results with the "Gutenprint" drivers?

I don't have anything to compare it against, but I have no complaints about Gutenprint. I've printed black-and-white letters and high-quality full-color prints and both look great. I've got the Epson CX4600 printer/scanner/copier.
