|
|
I have acpi compile into my kernel linux-2.6.11-gentoo-r5 but it does not appear in /proc/acpi .... also acpid complains it is not compiled into the kernel:
Code: |
# /etc/init.d/acpid start
* ACPI support has not been compiled into the kernel
|
Here is the .config acpi section :
Code: |
# Power management options (ACPI, APM)
#
CONFIG_PM=y
# CONFIG_PM_DEBUG is not set
# CONFIG_SOFTWARE_SUSPEND is not set
#
# ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) Support
#
CONFIG_ACPI=y
CONFIG_ACPI_BOOT=y
CONFIG_ACPI_INTERPRETER=y
# CONFIG_ACPI_SLEEP is not set
CONFIG_ACPI_AC=y
# CONFIG_ACPI_BATTERY is not set
CONFIG_ACPI_BUTTON=y
CONFIG_ACPI_VIDEO=y
CONFIG_ACPI_FAN=y
CONFIG_ACPI_PROCESSOR=y
CONFIG_ACPI_THERMAL=y
# CONFIG_ACPI_ASUS is not set
# CONFIG_ACPI_IBM is not set
# CONFIG_ACPI_TOSHIBA is not set
CONFIG_ACPI_BLACKLIST_YEAR=0
# CONFIG_ACPI_DEBUG is not set
CONFIG_ACPI_BUS=y
CONFIG_ACPI_EC=y
CONFIG_ACPI_POWER=y
CONFIG_ACPI_PCI=y
CONFIG_ACPI_SYSTEM=y
CONFIG_X86_PM_TIMER=y
# CONFIG_ACPI_CONTAINER is not set
|
Anyone have any idea why the support is not there ? I have tried recompiling the kernel...and tried the vanilla kernel with the same problem.
UPDATE:
doh ... I had ACPI=off in my grub.conf :8

try recompiling the kernel. backup your config, do a make mrproper and a make clean. Then insert your .config back in the kernel directory and recompile it. I had the same problem once when i started with a non acpi kernel and later switched it on. |

You have installed the new kernel and rebooted? _________________ Cheers,

but I have tried building a vanilla and a gentoo 2.6 kernel already. Both have the same problem. I think it is somthing in my config that is stopping acpi from working. Unless I can find out what it is I may have to build with a new .config.
Yes the kernels are being installed. |
