Hi
What should I do, if I change my mainboard and graphicscard? I don't want to reinstall Gentoo, because that's a lot of work. Will autodetection allow me to boot the system afterwards? Will things like my PCI WLAN card still work? Apart from recompiling the kernel, installing appropriate drivers, are there any other things to consider?
Thanks! |

your best bet would be to keep the same processor type and update your kernel to the new motherboard before fitting it. If you get a different graphics card booting to command line will work, and from there you can update your drivers to the new graphics card. Linux isnt fussy about which pci slot everything goes in, so it should be relatively painless, although you may have to reinstall your wlan drivers (if they arent in the kernel, you didnt say).
If you have any questions post them here, im around for a bit and im sure others will be able to help too
Good luck |

Thanks! I'm sure I'm going to have more questions when I actually change the setup. |
