|
|
A longshot, but i'm getting very very bored of looking through google results that are no help.
Does anyone have any experience setting up a VPN (of any type) from a gentoo box to a 3Com OfficeConnect firewall.
I have inherited this firewall where I work. There is no point changing it, it works, but I can't for the life of me get a VPN connection to it.
A howto would be fun, but all the VPN howto's I've read seem to want you to set up the server as well as the client.... _________________ My Public Key

What protocols uses your 3Com box?
If it uses PPTP you should dig into pptp-linux or poptop.
If it's IPSEC I guess you are out of luck without a native Linux client...

Too bad,
iso s there a Linux client available?
The point is: unless you know the exact IPSEC implemenatation of the 3Com box
you'll poke in the dark as there is noch such thing as *the* IPSEC implementation.
They all differ. And even if you know, setting up the Linux site is arcane art...
Maybe you should gather some specs and ask again in this forum.

There is no linux client available on the website.
I was coming to similar conclusions myself, but I wouldn't be able to beging describing what type of IPSec it is.
Hence asking if anyone has any experience with this hardware. _________________ My Public Key

Googling around I learned that your box runs Linux on MIPS!
Hence I guess there really is a way to connect your Gentoo to it...
Unfortunately I'm not very famliar with FreeSwan and such.
But: the sources are available for that thing! Maye it's easy enough
to peek in to the kernel config file to find first hints. Second you'll need to
find the FreeSwan configs.
