I found out that if I connect my CD/DVD drives headphone socket to my line-in socket on my sound card, I could use kscd (or similar) to play an audio CD. The audio would then come out my speakers digitally.
Of course there is probably a better solution but I haven't stumbled upon it yet.
Hope this helps. _________________ Postcount ++ |

The package cdrtools contains the tool readcd and cdda2wav, but I still haven't used linux yet for reading audiocds, like to use c2error(readcd) detection with my plextor but then I have to reprogram readcd. So I still haven't fixed it, ain't haven't searched for any good gui's to use the programs.
(maybe you need scsi-emulation support try a google search)
Hope I put you on the right track, lX _________________ "Remember there's a big difference between kneeling down and bending over.", Frank Zappa |

What do you mean exactly? If you want to grab the files directly, you can use cdparanoia <track-number> to get a wav file, no need to use scsi-emulation for that.
If you want to hear audio cds under linux, you can use xmms (I personally haven't figured out how to use this as user). The other (and easier)way is, to download the xmms-readcd plugin, then you don't need a direct wire to your soundcard. _________________ Do you want your posessions identified? [ynq] (n) |
