UK Users - O2 3g datacard?

Has anyone used an o2 3g datacard under Gentoo (or any linux - or even windows!) I'm thinking of buying one but need to work out things like chat scripts and drivers. I believe that they are subtly different from gprs datacards as you need to tell it whether to use 3g or 3g/failing back to gprs or just 3g.
